Visual literacy is the ability to interpret, negotiate, and make meaning from information presented in the form of an image, extending the meaning of literacy, which commonly signifies the interpretation of a written or printed text. It means not only being able to interpret visuals, but also to be able to create visuals and contribute to knowledge.

In this presentation, Sarah Martin, Curator of Education at the Snite Museum of Art will discuss how conversations about art can increase visual literacy skills.
