Islam Awareness Week 2019

The Muslim Students’ Association of Notre Dame is extremely excited to present Islam Awareness Week! We have planned several activities for throughout the week in order to celebrate Islamic faith and culture. Look forward to a dessert crawl and cultural night, a Halaqa, the annual lslam Awareness Week Dinner and much more! We hope you will participate actively, that you will bring friends & family, and that by the end you will recognize Islam and its message of love and peace.

Events

Hijab Distribution- Monday, 03/25/2019, Fieldhouse Mall, 11:00 am- 3:00 pm
MSA will distribute hijabs. Drop by to learn all about the Hijab including its meaning, purpose, and history.

Islam Awareness Week Annual Dinner- Tuesday, 03/26/2019, CoMo Lounge, 6:30-7:45 pm
MSA’s annual dinner tradition with international delicacies and an opportunity to celebrate with the interfaith community.

Dessert Crawl & Cultural night-­ Wednesday, 03/27/2019, CoMo Lounge, 5:00-6:00pm
Another great opportunity to learn about the diverse cultures that reside in our beautiful Notre Dame community! Enjoy desserts from all over the Muslim world and learn interesting facts about new cultures.

Halaqa- Thursday, 03/28/2019, Dooley Room @LaFun, 5:00-6:00pm
‘Halaqa’ or circle in Arabic is any gathering where people sit together to discuss matters of faith. Join us in this Halaqa for a discussion on the rights of parents in Islam.

Mosque Visit- Friday, 03/29/2019, Islamic Center of Michiana, 12:30-3:00pm
Experience how Muslims perform the special Friday Prayer, and have the opportunity to speak to the local Imaam (head of the mosque).
